The first company I researched was Ulta Beauty, and I discovered that it has a mostly tall organizational structure with upwards and downwards communication. According to their website, Ulta has over 30,000 associates in 48 states and 900+ retail stores and salons, along with five distribution centers and corporate office. In each store and salon, there is a hierarchy of general managers, associate managers, prestige managers, prestige beauty advisors, merchandise and service coordinators, beauty advisors, and more. Each higher up employee is responsible for the employee below them, and the lower employee must abide by those above him/her.
