1. Introduction: I define leadership as the ability to motivate others to achieve a goal. The three main pillars of my leadership philosophy are mentorship, respect, and encouraging the heart. These pillars derive from the Coast Guard’s Leadership Competency, the Coast Guard’s core values, and the Leadership Challenge. a. Turning to 2016, I began my legal career as a paralegal specialist at the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia. In less than a year, I was promoted to a trial attorney. I have practiced law in four divisions, primarily focusing on civil enforcement. In my current role, I supervise interns with two colleagues.
