Background The history of the 519 was first established as a community centre for the North Jarvis Community and was used as a space for gay youth in 1976 to conduct a program controlled by the community. Additionally, The 519 became a safe haven for LGBTQ groups during 1982 when Toronto police were conducting bathhouse raids throughout the city. During the 80’s and 90 's, the 519 opened a support group for gay people of colour and requesting benefits to same-sex spouses. The 519 has partnered with many organizations throughout the years such as Toronto District School Board to disclose positive knowledge about children with queer parents, also with the city of Toronto to make sure long-term care homes are LGBTQ friendly.
Introduction The Monterey County Department of Social Services (MCDSS) has a great impact on serving older adults in the Monterey County. The MCDSS has a variety of services in the county including the cities of Salinas, King City and Seaside. Boundless is dedicated to help people that need support especially women. We dedicate to give women in need clothing and make them prepare for any occasion. Boundless strives to help women move forward and become successful in whatever they want to accomplish. We do this by having designated bins in our stores where people can leave clothing that they no longer want. We do this because we want women to feel and look confident no matter the occasion.
The organization, which I decided to volunteer two hours of my day to, was Cumac. Cumac is located in Paterson, New Jersey and they work to serve the people in the counties of Passaic, Paterson, and Northern New Jersey. They work with a staff of 21 and volunteers from all over to help people in need with food and supplies they would need to survive. Their mission statement is: “CUMAC feeds people and changes lives. It works to alleviate hunger and its root causes for those in need in Paterson, Passaic County, and northern New Jersey.”

Morehouse School of Medicine is an appealing option for pursuing my medical education. When reading Morehouse’s mission statement, improving the health and well-being of individuals and communities grasped my attention. My clinical experiences revolve around communities that are underserved, and sharing the same mission as Morehouse is key to becoming the physician I aspire to be. One of the things that stood out to me about Morehouse is the student run Good Samaritan Health Center. I am very interested about being involved with God Samaritan, because it is akin to the Siloam Family Health Center that I volunteer at, and it is an embodiment of Morehouse’s mission.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is a domestic fiction novel written through the perspective of a girl named Scout. Scout, or Jean Louise Finch, and her brother, Jem, are raised by their father Atticus, a lawyer, in the prejudiced town of Maycomb, Alabama during the time of the Great Depression. Although the story is mainly about Atticus defending a black man named Tom Robinson, who is falsely accused for rape, there were many more things happening in the lives of the Finch family, like the children interacting with their neighbors and facing the constant judgements from the narrow-minded townspeople. At the same time, Jem, as a naive child, has a misconception about courage. His perception is limited to fighting physical fears.
