After earning my undergraduate degree in International Relations in Brazil, the depth of my interest in Political Science has grown throughout my time in Chicago, away from the Academia. As a result, I decided that I want now to return to academic study and concentrate on graduate studies in Political Science at Northeastern Illinois University.
My interest for Political Science and International Relations began in my teenage years. I have always been fascinated about how international politics shapes the world and current affairs. Being Brazilian and coming as I do from a developing nation, I realize, possibly more than most people, the importance of public policies created to promote equal opportunities and social and economic development. My goal is, one day, to be involved in planning policies that will increase opportunities for Brazilians who are disadvantaged, particularly the most excluded and vulnerable among them, and therefore contribute to the general development of my homeland. …show more content…

In order to accomplish this goal, it is important to understand the current international predispositions and to make full use of diplomatic resources. Therefore, I have comprehended the importance of both politics and international relations for providing a better life for societies worldwide, since Political Science and International Relations are extremely intertwined with one another.
Given that, my choice of International Relations at undergraduate level was determined by the wish to deeply understand the complexities of the constantly changing world. International relations have shaped/molded history and global societies throughout the times, and also, the relationship between countries and policies that are formulated. Thus, Politics have an important role in shaping international relations, sparking my interest in this study
