The first time everything clicked into place in my head and realization struck me was in eighth grade at a high school work shop. The place was filled to the brim with students attempting to figure out where they wanted to go, and others attempting to get free things. I, on other hand was certain i loved science and i knew i wanted to go to Townview’s Science and Engineering Magnet School. We got caught up in the commotion and we ended up right in front, I was quickly pulled by a teacher and she said, “Alright you're having …show more content…
By sheer chance i ended up at School of health professions, and i regret nothing. Freshman year was arguably the hardest year, introduction to medicine, to the language, to the body, and getting over the childish fits of giggles some still had when viewing the human body. While it was the hardest, to me, it was the most life changing; i was fascinated by every piece of information laid out in front of me, fractures, injuries, body parts, even dead animals full formaldehyde, it was all wonderful. We learned to run lab test, take vital signs and take care of patients, and of course the Anatomy and Physiology of the human body. At this time i became certified in First Aid and CPR, something i at the time prided myself in. Then our Junior year we got to choose into what specific part of medicine we wanted to “go into”, therapy, medical laboratory, clinical medical assisting, veterinary assisting, etc along with our cluster we took Pathophysiology one of the hardest classes i’ve had. I choose Medical Laboratory where i learned more about Urine and Blood that i thought would ever be possible! Halfway through the year we began to intern, i interned at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children where i met great people and made wonderful connections with them. This once again reassured me Medicine was the way i wanted to go and that being a surgeon was a huge possibility. Finally now a senior, I decided to stay in medical laboratory I'm currently, along with my peers, working towards gaining certification in
