Although I grew up in a middle class neighborhood, I did witness rampant drug use within the community. I had friends whose parents indulged in alcohol and the use of drugs. I saw things and heard stories that really affected any curiosity I might have later developed about those types of alternative lifestyles. Indirectly seeing and hearing about those experiences made me want to do whatever I could to make sure I would always avoid being in those circumstances. Just being indirectly exposed to those conditions motivated me to want to do better not only for myself but to help my friends and fellow members of my community who had no choice in dealing with situations like that. I knew that I wanted to help those caught in those environments to see that they could be so much greater than their current circumstances. So while my mother, environment and cultural involvement were tremendous sources of motivation for me to aspire to be better during my early years; today, I would have to credit my biggest motivation would be my children. My children motivate me to continue aspiring and taking steps to achieve my goals of greatness and helping others realize their very respective potentials. When I gave birth to my children they each became visages of my collective pride and joy. As my own mother did for me, I assure that I do my very best to make sure they have everything they need as well as everything I need to continue to equip them with the tools of fulfillment and success. They inspire me to be strong-minded, strong-willed and to pursue my life and daily endeavor exuberantly. They motivate me to give me best in everything and all that I do because I hope to instill those same values into them. I vow to give everything my last drop of energy and resources because it is my hope to condition to a certain elevated standard.
