I wish to work in digital media and photography this year. I hope to improve my skills on Photoshop this year also. I would like to work on my photography skills. To do this, I want to learn about how to better use Photoshop for enhancing photos. I would like to learn more about famous photographers, and apply what I learn into my work. I want to have more research and complexity into my photography. Also related to photography, I would like to work on my skills for stop motion animation. I would like to learn about the techniques used to manipulate and edit the photos taken. This year I would also like to work on still life, observational drawing. In college I hope to pursue architecture or interior architecture. After taking the pre-college program at CIA, I knew I wanted to do something related to the built environment and design. After attending the University of Syracuse’s pre-college intro to architecture class, I will have a more definite idea of what I want to do. If architecture is not the right path for me, I would like to explore the field of photography. I really enjoyed working on my AP portfolio last year. They were discussing the colors and arrangements of the different pieces. Since the show featured mainly impressionist their use of bold colors was really different from the proceeding time periods. Also, there were some synthetic cubist pieces as well that used more colors in the pieces as well.
d) I went to the museum with my mom. What impressed her was that the Philips collection was considered modern art at the time that it was bought and collected, and now it is really different from what we think of as modern art. She would want to buy Van Gogh’s ‘the Road Menders’ 1889 because she liked the colors of the piece and she really liked the focal point of the big yellow tree. Even though she could not buy the actual painting, she bought a magnet of it.
e) I really liked the architecture of the Kimball, especially after visiting the Khan exhibit and learning more about him and his process. I liked the repeated arches. I also liked that the new building complimented the existing older building, and was different but not too different. I did not like the underground parking garage under the older structure. It seemed really small and cramped compared to the size of space that you see above the
