I am just an ordinary person with lots of dreams as any other ordinary person. I never aimed too high, but I believed one day I should do something to make my existence in this world fruitful. After careful consideration, I have realized that a carrier as a Pharmacist will allow me to work toward this goal.

I completed high school from Nepal with Science as my major. I was very receptive and always eager to learn new things. My subjects in high school included Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus and English. These interdisciplinary science courses helped me to better understand the natural world and the realm of science. When I was in Nepal, I visited Hari Thapa, one of my uncles. He was suffering from an ordinary disease, but was prescribed medicines unnecessarily. As a result he had Left-sided Hemiplegia. I was very disheartened by this tragic story, and I wanted to know how the medicines act on the body and if they had any side effects how those side effects could be minimized. I was eager to learn the way medicines distribution was practiced. I then made up my mind to learn about pharmaceutical drugs, and enrolled in pre-pharmacy program which was the first step towards my goal, and also the pre-requisite to get into the School of Pharmacy. I got to know lot about anatomy and physiology of the body, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Taking pre-pharmacy classes developed a strong feeling of interest towards medicines. I have also performed volunteer works which have given me insight into patient’s attitude and experiences with medicines. I started working for a Pharmacy to learn more about the field of pharmacy and medicine dispensing. I even enrolled myself for the certification course for Pharmacy Technician at CPCC. I appeared for Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's (PTCB) CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician) test, and now I am a Certified Pharmacy Technician. Healthy people can achieve their dreams while unhealthy people lie still in the bed without any achievements. Diseases are most of the time preventable, but once they occur they must be treated. I have seen people struggling with their life at the last stage of the disease. They wish that they could survive a few more minutes to see their loved ones. This is the most emotional state that could melt any stone heart. There are many diseases for which medications have not been discovered yet, and people still are dying at young ages due to lack of medicine supply. Life is priceless, and to give a healthy life to a diseased person is the best social service anybody will think of. I always wish to serve people. I selected pharmacy as a career because I wanted to serve people by helping them in their medications; and I feel fulfilled by doing so. I do not want anyone to end up with condition like my uncle Hari. I may not be able to save thousands of lives but if I could at least save lives of a few I would consider my life to be
