The moment you come out to your family about being gay is a moment that someone will never forget because it can change the lives of many around you. Now imagine being an African American male with a family that finds this to be a huge sin and foul? The day my brother told my parents about him being a gay, was a day that I’d never forget. Not only did he endure the unspeakable acts that my parents did to him, but he also was brave enough to show his affection for men in public without caring what the world had to say about it. Going into college, I hope to major in sports medicine and physical therapy because you can show people how much you care for their well-being. We’ve all witnessed a physician once in our life that seems more interested in getting paid then actually helping their patients. This field of work is something that I’m very patient about. My sophomore year of high school, I took a Sports medicine course and absolutely feel in love with it. Being in this field of work also means that I get to somewhat stay involved with sports because I am heavily impacted by sports. Because of my brothers hard and determination not only do I hope to college and major in sports medicine and physical therapy, but I hope to get a scholarship playing the sport I love which is volleyball. I work hard every day in school and on the court so that way in the long run I can look back from where I am and say that I worked hard to get to where I am now without any favors. There are occasions of when I get stressed out to the point where I do want to give up so I give my littlest efforts. This is one of my weak suits which I would like to improve.
