College Internship Analysis

For 8 years, I wanted to be a vet. I knew what courses I had to take and where I wanted to get my degree; Washington State University. I had a plan too. I’d graduate from WSU, move out of Spokane, WA away from everyone I knew and head to the state of California. After I moved there, I’d get an internship or job to be a vet’s assistant. Later on in life, I’d open my own practice so I could be my own boss in a place where I wanted to be without anybody to stop me. Based off of the relationship I had with my family, I’d cut them off as well. I’d have a complete restart in my life. I thought I had everything mapped out, but I never talked about my plans with anybody because the people I was surrounded by would have never been interested enough.

I wasn’t entirely interested because I wasn’t a fan of high school basketball and of course, I was too involved with myself. Half way through the conversation, she said they needed more managers to help out with team and I’d be a good person for it. I laughed and shook my head. I told her no originally. I didn’t make commitments unless it involved music or dancing. Dancing filled the holes and cuts in my life. Ever since I’ve been 5, it’s been an escape I’m so grateful for. Plus, I had issues back home I need to worry about. But then I paused; with everything going on back home, I could use this management as a distraction. So, I asked her what managers do for the team. She mentioned a lot of things like washing their game jerseys and making sure the first aid kit is stocked. Liz said the coach was strict when it came to basketball, but said you just have to get to know him in order for the relationship to work out. She’d known him previously before he came to Rogers. As she kept talking, I couldn’t help but think of why she thought I was the best participant for this gig. My senior year, I asked Liz why she thought I was someone who was fit for the job. She said, “T, I could tell from the minute I met you that you were broken inside and you needed a pickup. I knew you were athletic, but I decided to give you a new obstacle in the athletic field. You’re the strongest, independent person I’ve met and not only I and the coaches are proud of you, but so is the team.” I felt chills run through my body. That only gave me more
