Graduating from college was an unrealistic goal for everyone in my family. School days felt endless and homework seemed impossible to complete. Nonetheless, I always felt a strong sense of confidence. I was certain that one day I would accomplish a memorable goal. I wasn’t sure what it would be, or where I would find my motivation. But I was certain that one day I would make a difference in my community. As I grew older, I realized that a huge step towards this ambiguous goal was to obtain college education. I was motivated to pursue a college degree because I wanted to assist individuals who face education barriers, much like my parents. My parent’s education was very limited. In fact, they only obtained an elementary level education. It was for this reason that completing my academic work was always so difficult. But it was not impossible, as I obtained a Bachelor’s degree at Dominican University with excellent academic grades. …show more content…
With their extraordinary mentorship, I was able to discover my true potential in all my work by giving all aspects of work my full effort. For instance, as undergraduate student, I maintained a part-time job at Triton College, and completed a yearlong internship at an elementary school. In fact, they inspired me to me to join my two greatest interests, children and psychology, which resulted in internship position with early education program called Jumpstart. My extraordinary performance never went unrecognized, as my professors and my work supervisors frequently advised me to take on new challenging projects. Overall, my professors always strongly encouraged me to demonstrate my best worth ethic in all aspect of work, and they helped me discover my genuine passion for children and their academic
