Since childhood, people have been told that going to college is an essential to achieve success. Once students start their high school education thinking about their lives after high school becomes their most difficult as well as most important question. In today’s society, more people consider higher education than ever before. Besides, attending a traditional college is becoming more expensive and more competitive each year. Although traditional colleges may still be suitable for many people, it is not suitable for all. To begin with, tuition costs at traditional colleges are rising each year. This makes the students to consider student loans. In addition to the cost, a bachelor degree usually takes more than 4 years to finish. These factors cause the students to start considering college alternatives, such as vocational schools. “The median first-year earnings of graduates of certain certificated, including several in healthcare, were more than $70,000 according to CollegeMeasures.org” (Source 3). In general, completing certificated programs takes less time and less time than attaining a 4 year degree, while it also can lead to having high-paying jobs. At traditional universities, students learn most of the needed knowledge at lecture halls by listening to the teachings of the professors. However, there are many occupations, in which hand-on experience is more important than just having the knowledge.
