The Colonial Park Cemetery is one of the most haunted places in all of Savannah, Georgia. The cemetery opened in 1750. Today it is the oldest burial ground. There where very few burial ground prior to 1750. Most of them have been shut down so they can make roads and other things like parks. The Colonial Park Cemetery is still open today. It has 6 acres and over 10,000 buried at the cemetery. Some of the grave markers had fallen over from earlier times.
Many people say they have seen a ghost. They all mostly had the same story. A older man is believed to be buried at the cemetery. He is supposedly the most seen ghost in The Colonial Park Cemetery. His name is Rene Rondolier. People say they saw a man hanging from a tree. The tree is now called the ‘Hanging Tree’. Rene was a serial killer. …show more content…

Most of the people that died there was by an epidemic that happened in 1793. The epidemic was called ‘Yellow Fever’. It cause over 7,500 cases and over 5,000 deaths. The Colonial Park Cemetery is located in the heart of Savannah, Georgia. The cemetery is opened to pedestrians. Before the name Colonial Park Cemetery it was called Old cemetery, Old Brickyard cemetery, South Broad St. cemetery, and Christ Church cemetery. Many people visit each day. The most famous person buried there is Button Gwintton. He was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. There are also many people who died of duels. When they died they would call it 'To much honor'. They would in duels shoot each other until one of them died. That left many men dead on the streets.
