After reading The Nazi Seizure of Power By William Sheridan Allen, I completely agree with the author's thesis, and I liked how he went about supporting it in his book. One might think that given what the author was trying to support, that this would be a book full of bland and dry facts, however, since Allen focused on the Village of Northeim alone, it was easier for him to shape the text into a story. He begins the book by giving the reader an overview of the history and layout of Northeim. This information is crucial to understanding how the Nazi party could so quickly and so abruptly take political control of such a seemingly stable village. When Allen is still just introducing some of the many qualities and social structures of Northeim,
The book is almost a compilation of different spy stories from the Cold War, but his choice of words and tone make it seem much more real and personal than someone just describing events. The book’s beginning is quite exciting, throwing readers right into an American covert mission. Favreau’s opening is exciting and does a great job at grabbing readers’ attention. Throughout the book, the author doesn’t just leave us with gaps between different American and Soviet spy stories, he does a great job giving context on the political aspects of this war. The stories are laid out in chronological order with great detail in between, giving readers the information needed to understand what is truly going on during this war.
I. Introduction a. Many people believe World War II simply occurred when a power-hungry dictator named Adolf Hitler blitzed into Poland with one goal—to gather every Jew and ship them to concentration camps to be gassed. While that may be true, many people don’t realize Germany’s economy nosedived after the country was punished for the events in World War I. Also, the Great Depression in the United States affected Europe, including Germany. This became the perfect breeding ground for low-life, toxic dictators like Hitler to emerge, and starry-eyed citizens celebrated their dictator’s ascent while hoping for a bright future for their country.

In “Bloodlands” Snyder’s main point is to describe that although Hitler and Stalin had conflicting goals and viewpoints, their actions directly affected one another and resulted in one of the most horrific time periods in European history. The Nazi Literature in the Americas is described as a collection of right wing writers’ poems. Roberto Bolano wrote the book in the form of a collection of many short biographies of unreal Pan American authors. Most of the writers portrayed in the short stories included in the book are Nazi-fascists, ultra-right supporters, and zealots who came from South America and a few from North America. Nazi Literature of Americas discusses poetry scripts and some non-existing literature books that have never been published, but they do have a lesson to teach the general public. This paper presents an overview of many short stories that are analyzed in the book and how they influence individual actions in the society.
