This paper will explore the concert about the presence of gender and sexual stereotypes in popular sitcoms in the country. It proposes that humor plays a very important role in life because it produces responses similar to physical exercises on the human body. In addition, the article explains the different types of humor why they have a funny appeal to people. Stereotypes feature prominently in the article as the writer explains how these jokes are a cultural function (Emeritus 2005). The article was chosen for the paper because it shows the importance of humor and the cultural functions that affect development of a sense of humor. There are ample examples and illustrations to support the points. In addition, there is an aspect of reliability in the journal publishing the article and the usage of quotations.
Humor was used to alleviate suffering by poking fun at difficult situations in a historical context according to the book by Nathansohn. Therefore, their popularity indicates the society appreciates stereotype jokes targeting specific portions of the population. For example, the Big Bang Theory follows the lives of four scientists and their social struggles due to their academic gifts.
