The Communication Contract
The aim of this paper is to write a communication contract for an association which I am on the board of directors. This board is the local bowling association board, Loveland Estes Park Bowling Association. This association exists to ensure that all bowl, all local bowlers are represented at the national level and to ensure bowlers are awarded the bowling achievements that the bowler earns. This communication contract will discuss the objective, the various clauses that are included and anticipated outcome or conclusion of this communication contract.

The article The Communication Contract and Its Ten Ground Clauses discuss the ten ground clauses and the reasoning behind the clauses (2008). The clauses that this communication contract will include are: sincerity, clarity, openness, tolerance, balanced speech time and optimal timing (p. 420 – 423). Conrad (2014) recognizes that without communication nothing would be accomplished. During the LEPBA board meetings there are numerous handouts given to each attendee, usually minutes to the last meeting, this meeting agenda and various committee notes. The LEPBA board is comprised of both adults and youth bowlers. Youth bowlers bring new ideas and suggestions to be the board. Older board members tend to dismiss these bowlers as not having a clue or wisdom to know what is really going on with all bowlers. When older board members ignore questions or comments from younger member there is a violation of the tolerance clause. Dresp-Langles (2009, p 422) states “The tolerance clause directly aims at situations where relevant remarks of team embers with inferior hierarchical position or less experience are overruled by an authority statement from team members with higher status.” To ensure that all board members are treated the same board members will not violate the tolerance
