The book and movie version of the story, “A Christmas Carol” are alike, but they are also very different. There are more similarities than there are differences. In my opinion the movie is better than the book. Some people may think otherwise, but I think the movie is better. There are a lot of similarities and differences in the two.
Here are a few similarities between the two versions. In both the movie and the book Marley’s name is on the door. Scrooge despises Christmas in both. In the beginning of both versions Scrooge’s nephew comes to visit him while he is at work. The movie and the book Scrooge does not allow the first spirit to show him anything else from the past. In both Tiny Tim is crippled and ends up dying. Scrooges nephew feels sorry for him. After he sees all of the spirits, he buys a turkey for Tiny Tim’s family, he gives Tiny Tim’s dad a raise, and Tiny Tim ends up living. Those are a few similarities in between the two versions of “ A Christmas Carol”.

One difference is that the movie does not talk about Marley and the book does. In the book Scrooge is wearing a dressing gown while in the movie he was wearing a suit. The book says that Scrooge sobbed but in the movie he does not sob. In the book the setting is dark and gloomy while in the movie it is sunny and bright. In the movie Scrooge tries to get the spirit to take him home but in the book he does not. The movie has lightening while in the book it does not have any lightening. Those are just a few differences in between the
