Republicans and Democrats Republicans and Democrats. Two words you can’t go a day without seeing or hearing in today’s media. Some people take it as an insult to be called one or the other because they are strongly Republican or Democratic. While these parties have a few similarities, they are known to be radically different in their ideologies. In general, Republicans believe the government shouldn’t play a big part in people’s lives while Democrats believe that the government should be active in people’s lives. Mentioned above, Republicans and Democrats have big differences in their ideals. Typically, Republicans take a conservative stance on issues which is why they are commonly called with conservatives, or the right-wing. Democrats typically want guns out of ordinary citizens hands; their ideology on this is that if no one has guns then the number of deaths because of gun violence will decrease exponentially. While this might seem like sound thinking, the most common argument that puts this idea down is “If we don’t have guns when a terrorist shows up or someone gets a gun from the black market we won’t be able to defend ourselves.” The Republicans stance on gun control is that ordinary citizens should have guns, so when crazy people and terrorists show up we can defend ourselves. They actually want to loosen up the laws regarding gun control because of the Second Amendment. This ideology is typically rivaled with the argument that this will result in more gun violence, and there two ways to look at this argument. One is to agree with it.
