The United States versus Bangladesh The United States has a specific set of rules and strategies involved in their police, courts, and corrections system to ensure that citizens are treated fairly in the criminal justice world. Unfortunately, not every country is the same. While some countries have rules in place to protect their citizens, most are unaware of them as they are not made known. Bangladesh is one of those countries. There are many differences between the United States and Bangladesh in terms of their police system, court system, and corrections system. The United States police system has specific requirements focusing more on the applicants persona. In order to join the force, one must have received their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) by passing the SSC examination. In the United States, an applicant needs a high school diploma, which is given at the completion of 12th grade, but one can take their SSC after completing 10th grade and not fully finishing secondary school. The Bangladesh Police recruit both males and females that are 18 years or older (Constable, 2017). Males are required to be at least 5’4”, while females are required to be at least 5’2” (Constable, 2017). Recruits must receive a 40 on the written exam and a 20 on the oral exam, as well as partake in basic training for six months (Constable, 2017). The Bangladesh Police have a stronger emphasis on physical appearance, having minimum height requirements, whereas the United States has no minimum or maximum height
