By: Liya Beyene Many characters have different ways they conquer feelings, such as uncertainty. Sally and Percy Jackson in The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, both have similarities and differences when it comes to their motivation to take action when faced with uncertainty. Percy uses his quick reflexes to conquer what he was feeling. On the contrary, Sally uses a caring personality to deal with uncertainty. Sally and Percy both put what is important to them first.
A lot of books are made into movies. Sometimes, the movie is an accurate representation of the characters, plot, and setting. Some movies, however, share very little with the book(s) they were based on. The first Percy Jackson movie is an example of an adaptation that did not correlate with the book by Rick Riordan. The differences between the Lightning Thief book and its movie include the appearance of the central characters, the personalities of the main characters, and the ending.
Percy Jackson and the Lighting Thief is a nonfiction book, and is one out of five in the series. The book was written in 2005 by an author named Rick Riordan, who also published the series The Heroes of Olympus. The book tells a narrative of a hero through the use of mythology and tells a story of dangerous adventures Percy shares with his friends, Annabeth and Grover. Percy Jackson and the Lighting Thief is apart of the monomyth because the book follows Joseph Campbell's Hero’s Journey.
Imagine discovering that the Greek gods of myths and monsters are real, and you're the son of one. Well that is exactly what happened in the story “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief” as well as the movie of the same name. Percy was the son of Poseidon. And Percy knew the Greek gods and monsters and fought them. There are many differences in the book and movie however including that in the book Percy lived in his mom’s house while in the movie he had his own place in the woods;
Percy Jackson and the lightning thief is about the offspring of poseidon and a mortal, going on a quest with his friends to find Zeus’ missing lightning bolt. The bolt went missing and Percy Jackson is accused of taking it. This is an excellent book that was made into a film. Though the film was good it was very different from the book.
Percy Jackson vs. Perseus “Percy Jackson” draws on the legend of “Perseus” by showing the hero archetypes are both “The prodigy” and transforms it by having the same aspect of events in the story. One similarity between the two myths is that the are both the missfit. I know this because Percy didn’t fit in in his school. “Sorry don’t know” (Percy Jackson and the lightning thief, scene 3) This shows that he was an outcast in his school.
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, written by Rick Riordan, is about 12 year-old Percy discovering who he was and that his dad is Poseidon; Greek god of the sea. An interesting character in the novel was Grover Underwood. Grover is an interesting character because he is Percy’s protector, he is hard-working, and he is thoughtful. Grover –who is Percy’s best friend and protector– is an important character in the book.
Disappointments come in myriad ways and movies made from books are some of them. The Percy Jackson movies were a major disappointment when compared to the books. The movies were a disappointment due to the removal of key details and the changing of the plot. If a movie producer makes a movie based off of a book, then he/she would need to stick to as much of the books details as possible, because people that have read the books will know when details have been changed from the book to the movie.
What makes this movie captivating is the use of the action that doesn’t make the movie boring. From Percy using his supernatural powers from Poseidon in Camp Half Blood to fighting greek mythological monsters such
The novel, Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief, has many different characters who seek to be a “hero”, including Percy Jackson, who is the son of Poseidon, sent on a quest to return the master bolt to Zeus to prevent a war from breaking out with his two friends, Annabeth and Grover. Percy Jackson proves that he was not a hero when he ran from the chimera, had also nearly missed the date of the summer solstice (Lotus Casino), and nearly had died of pit scorpion venom as he had thought Grover or Annabeth would be the traitor. The first reason Percy shows he is not a hero is when he fought the chimera. This shows Percy is a hero because this moment not only showed how weak he was, but also the fact he had little to no faith in his father at that
Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is a book that was adapted to a movie. In the book the main characters, Percy, Annabeth and Grover, are or look to be 12 years old. Percy has darker hair with green eyes and is scrawny like many 12 year olds. Annabeth’s character is complete with blonde hair and stormy gray eyes.
In Percy Jackson it gets modernised by more modern and how it looked. Also instead of an ancient thing/house it's a store in Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson goes through more tasks to save his mother as Perseas doesn't go through as much. Percy uses medusa to save his life and
People have many identities and have to accept the obstacles brought by society due to that identity. In Percy Jackson :The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan Percy finds his true identity facing many challenges of being a son of a god. Do you think he knew the challenges he was going to face at his NYC apartment? Do you think Percy knew his potential at Yancy? It seems that everyone gets to know who they really are at different times.
Throughout “The Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan, the main character Percy Jackson grows in many ways. Through application of Joseph Campbell’s Hero Cycle, Percy’s development as a leader over the course of “The Lightning Thief” can be analyzed (Campbell). Percy is born into the hero’s cycle at his natural birth and his call to adventure is the attack by Mrs. Dodds. Percy crosses the threshold, when he leaves Montauk with his mother and Grover and the first trial testing his leadership is on the bus with the furies. Trials exemplifying Percy’s growth include: the furies, Medusa, the Saint Louis Arch, the “Waterland” Waterpark, the Lotus Hotel, Crusty’s Waterbed Palace, and Hades and the Underworld.
