Today’s society pictures Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet as a love story about two reckless teens too young to make mature choices about love. The way Romeo and Juliet is pictured is so much less than it actually is. Romeo and Juliet is overrated as a love story and underrated as a story in general. People just see one theme on the story, the love story, were it also has other themes, one of them being how kids are too afraid to talk to their parents or even voice their opinion without the fear of their parents freaking out. Romeo and Juliet is more than a love story but also a story about how kids too afraid to come to their parents with a problem or even state their opinions on things without fear of their parents getting angry. Juliet clearly doesn’t want to get married to Paris, she would rather marry Romeo 100%. Romeo is much more appealing to her after all, he’s around her age and is quite good with words.
