Sometimes people think that what they’re doing is helping others but in reality it is making the mental state of their peers worse. Human beings always try to help people and they think that they know their friends best interests. Their friends might be going through something but all they can think of is themselves. In the play, Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare the tragedies were stoppable but their friends and family just didn’t see the tragedy. Characters that are punished or affected by the choices that they make are Mercutio fighting Tybalt, Romeo killing Tybalt, and The Capulets and Montagues fighting.

Romeo goes to find Tybalt and wants to start and fight him to avenge his friend Mercutio. After Romeo finds Tybalt, he says "This shall determine that. They fight, Tybalt falls (Benvolio) Romeo away, be gone! The citizens are up, and Tybalt slain. Stand not amazed. The Prince will doom thee death If thou art taken. Hence, be gone away!" (3,1, Lines 127-131). Romeo is very angry at Tybalt for killing hsi very good friend Mercutio, goes to find him and have a duel. Since Romeo has fought Tybalt and has killed him he will be banished from Verona because he didn’t follow the rules/law. Due to the fight between Romeo and Tybalt. The Montagues start to plead to the Prince to not get Romeo banished from Verona. After the Capulets and Montages plead to the Prince, he says "And for that offence Immediately we do exile him hence. I have interest in your hearts' proceeding. My blood for your rude brawl doth lie a-bleeding But I'll amerce you with so strong a fine. That you shall all repent the loss of mine. I Will be deaf to pleading and excuses. Nor tears nor prayers shall purchase our abuses, Therefore use none. Let Romeo hence in haste, Else, when he's found, that hour is his last. Bear hence this buddy and attend our will. Mercy but murders, pardoning those that kill" (3,1, Lines 182-193). The Montagues and Capulets are fighting but since Benvolio is a peacemaker he tries to stop the fight. As the Capulets and Montagues are fighting, Benvolio says "I do but keep peace. Put up thy sword, Or manage it to part these men with me. (Tybalt) What, drawn, and talk peace? I hate the word, As I hate hell, all Monatgues, and thee. Have at thee, coward!" (1,1, Lines 61-65). Benvolio is a Montague and is also a peacemaker and wants the two families to stop fighting. Benvolio hates fighting but the families have been in a fight that has lasted over a century and he wants to try and stop it. Unlike Benvolio being a peacemaker, the families of the Capulet and Montagues had been fighting for a very long time. After the families find out about their children's death, the Prince says *Capulet! Montaquel See what a scourge is laid upon your hate, That heaven finds means to kill your joys with lovel And I, for winking at your discords, too Have lost a brace of kinsmen. All are punished" (5,3, Lines 291-295). The prince shows what the fighting between the two families has led to the death of their two loved children Romeo and Juliet.
