Soccer and Medicine. They seem worlds apart, but they have both played major roles in my development for reasons that are surprisingly similar. They both offer challenges, require a tremendous amount of discipline, and possess a goal-oriented approach. I first became involved with Soccer when I was only four years old. At that time I began studying the sport in my hometown, in the valley; I was an earnest singleton who was captivated by the fast paced experience that came along with the desire to win. Dedication and discipline were the keys to my success, which included being a major factor in my team's progression into the finals of a major tournament. The main reason I became interested in medicine is that it also requires a fastidious, goal-oriented approach that is very demanding. That being said, the substance of medicine also holds strong appeal to me, both through its scientific aspect and through the potential for serving others who are in need. Although these headaches eventually were diagnosed as Cholesteatoma, a rather serious issue in my middle and inner ear, my physician was always at hand.
