I have always been inspired by the stories of mountaineers. Their passion and zeal drives them to push themselves through worsening conditions, just so that they can fulfill their goal of summiting a peak. I believe life is all about pushing oneself beyond the limits, getting out of your comfort zone and going an extra mile to achieve what one desires in life.

I enjoyed working with adults and children, learning surgical art and disciplines and medical innovations. I gained critical insight into the field of medicine by gaining clinical experience in various departments from ophthalmology to surgery. While they were just as cutting edge, my true calling was to pursue Internal Medicine. This was a field that allowed me to delve into complex problems, to use and sharpen my analytical skills.
Working alongside doctors at Mount Sinai, I learned to interpret the small changes in clinical signs and symptoms that lead to differential diagnosis. It was a constant challenge to think differently and consider endless possibilities that come when dealing with a wide variety of physiological systems. I always devoted some time to patients’ family, imparting knowledge and easing their fears and stress. This was perhaps the most rewarding part of the experience and all my exhaustions were washed away by a few words of gratitude from my patients.
As a residency aspirant, I seek a program of academic excellence, outstanding patient care and an opportunity to be mentored by leaders in the field. I want an opportunity to explore the areas of Internal Medicine using an array of diagnostic tool and facilities; tools that have often restricted doctors back in my country from taking calculated risks in treating critical aspects of such ailments. Most importantly, I want to be a part of the system that can hone my skills and capitalize on my potential and experience.
I am a persistent, optimistic and an enthusiastic individual who has always yearned for excellence, but this passion leads to a career 8000 miles away from the comfort of my home and the company of my family. However, this is the sacrifice I am willing to make for the sake of professional advancement and personal growth. The focus of my life has been persistent and effective hard work. Up till now I have prepared to deal with many obstacles; academic and social.
