Overtime America has worked its way to becoming an important international power. The country upholds this position by establishing the proper systems to maintain being a strong country that is able to defend itself and protect its people’s needs. Both Presidential leaders Jimmy Carter and Ronald Regan would work to help America develop a good position on international affairs in a time where the country had faced conflict over it borders. He would do this through focusing on the United States Military Strength. Regan’s anti–communist approached pushed lead him to increase military strength, which demonstrated the United States economic advantage over the Soviet Unions at the time. The Regan Doctrine would be created by him to cater to providing a large amount of money to the United States military. The economical adavnatage of the Unted states would eventually lead to the soviet’s collapse. This was a success in Ronald Regans foreign policy as it ended the prolonged Cold War and allowed the United States and Soviet Union to come at ease with one another. It was also successful in bringing America back into being a strong world power. Some his failures in foreign policy laid in events such as the Berit airport bombing in Iseral that killed 241 soldiers and the Ira Contra Affair Scandal- where the president would agree to sell weapon to Iran for the release of American Hostages and use the funds it gain to go towards supporting the Contras in Nicaragua (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2023).
