The United States has a legislative branch which is bicameral, the House of Representatives and the Senate. They each have a different role in Congress. The purpose for the two houses is to create laws and view laws. The two houses was set for many reasons with differences and similarities. The legislative branch has two houses of congress for three reasons; historical, practical and theoretical. The historical reason why there are two houses is because the British Parliament consisted of two houses since the 1300s.
