Although it is hard to stay calm during tough times, Anne Frank's Diary, as well as Mrs. Breed shows us how you can get through conflicts with a smile on your face. Anne Frank knows at some point the Nazis are going to come and take her and her family away. She is nervous that she may be separated and creates Kitty, her diary, who she knows to never be taken away and keeps her company. Mrs.Breed is a librarian who sends books to kids who have been sent to concentration camps. She gives the kids something to look forward to and not have all negative things in there life.

This shows that Anne and her family are trying to make the best about their situation now. They have to go and hide in a little shack hoping the Nazis won’t discover where they are. To make them feel more comfortable, they bring a couple of colorful items to make them feel more at home. They feel sad and lonely, but still keep looking at the bright side. “It seems like years since Sunday morning. So much has happened it's as if the whole world had suddenly turned upside down. But as you can see, Kitty, I'm still alive, and that's the main thing…”, writes Anne. She is scared and nervous about what will happen. She talks about how her world is no longer upright and everything has changed. Yet, she still is finding a way to make it better and the things she can’t control, she will make do of it. “This trip has made me realize the wonderful work of nature. Her delicate work in shaping the stone mountains, the beautiful coloring of the surroundings—it seemed as if I was looking at the picture or a painting of a genius.” This is a letter written to Mrs. Breed
