The story and the radio play of “Dark They Were and Golden-Eyed” both shared many similarities. They described the experiences of the Bittering Family and other people from Earth living in a colony of Mars. The story uses similes, metaphors, and personification to convey the readers strongly, using the theme of fear. Just like the story, the radio play also uses them as well. Not only radio play tells the story of the “Dark They Were and Golden-Eyed,” it also uses dialogue and expression to give the readers a better understanding of what the author is trying to tell the readers.
