Douglas Vermeeren from ReliablePlant states that “roughly 70 percent [of people] fail to achieve [their] goals” due to lack of motivation as well as being incapable of overcoming obstacles (Vermeeren). The high-school play Of Mice and Men directed by Dr. Mike Mikulics presents George and Lennie, the two protagonists, who failed to achieve their goal of purchasing a piece of land because of encountering problems at the ranch they worked at. The director illustrates that some dreams are nearly impossible to conquer, therefore having a plan B would ensure some success. The actors and actress executes the play Of Mice and Men magnificently through their ability to act, maintaining the audience’s interest, and the storyline. The play begins off with George and Lennie setting camp near a river and discussing about working at a ranch. George Miller, played by Cameron Stark, begins the play with a strong start. He successfully articulates his voice loudly and clearly for the audience to understand. The actor stays very enthusiastic in the tone of his voice which convinces the audience of George’s emotions. For example, the two must deal with Curley and his wife which appears to be an obstacle for George and Lennie. Curley seems to be a huge problem for George and Lennie because he’s insecure and questions almost everything, like the location of his wife. Towards the end, Curley’s wife gets murdered by Lennie which results in all of the actors searching for him. Long story short, George ends up shooting Lennie to prevent his future suffering from the members that work at the ranch. The audience understood the storyline quite well because the viewers did not speak in confusion of the plot during intermission or at the end of the play.
