1. Does Rainsford’s perspective on hunting shift throughout the story? Give evidence to support your answer. Yes in the beginning of the story Rainsford tells Whitney “Who cares how a jaguur feels?”. He then proceedes to tell Whitney that “They’ve no understanding “.
Rainsford’s perspective on hunting changed drastically throughout the book, making him more knowledgeable towards the game he always conquered in. From the start, Rainsford always had a straightforward view on hunting. “You 're a big-game hunter, not a philosopher. Who cares how a jaguar feels?”(1) Rainsford never felt any remorse toward the animals he killed while attacking his prey, and felt as though he was the master of the hunt. A situation came across when Rainsford realized that their lives are just as valuable as his.
The book that I am reading for my summer reading is Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers. This book is about soldiers who are fighting in the Vietnam War. The book focuses around the main protagonist Richard Perry and is in first person through Perry’s perspective of the war. Perry’s life is different compared to mine for instance Perry is the age 17, he has a single mother and younger brother he is having to support by joining the army while just finishing high school. Both characters hardened and evolved through the witnessing of many losses, causing their innocence to shatter. Grady loses his innocence during a fight when he “brought his knife up from the floor and sank it into the cuchillero’s heart. From the red boutonniere blossoming on the left pocket of his blue workshirt there spurted a thin fan of bright arterial blood”(116). Parham wakes up from his unrealistic quest to return the wolf or nature back to its original state after he “took aim at the bloodied head and fired” during the fair (78). These are critical moments which allowed them to transition from a boy to a man.

One of the best days of my life was when we went deer hunting in South Dakota with my dad, brother, uncle and two cousins, but before I tell you about my trip let me tell you how it started. We left early in the morning to head to South Dakota where my cousin Jacob, who had just got a job as Game warden in Custer State Park, was taking us deer hunting. We got as far as Fargo, North Dakota when my cousin Keith asked my dad where our license were. Then to our surprise we forgot them back at home. We were lucky enough to have my two aunts and mom bring us the license because they were going to Fargo that day anyways for a girls shopping day.
