Love is defined as a passionate emotion shared between two people. Some characteristics of love include respect and care. To contradict, Lust is the opposite of love. Lust is defined as a strong feeling based solely on one's desire while looking at someone’s appearance. We explore the lessons of love versus lust, which is explained through the play Romeo and Juliet and Sonnet 129. The purpose of these pieces is to tell a story or to share knowledge. He perceives love as how much he likes another’s appearance. This is not truly love, but rather lust. He only believes in one beauty out of the average or even unattractive woman to be the one he loves. His beliefs are later disproved because he falls in love with another beauty, Juliet of the Capulet household. Love has moderation, but this is not the case in Romeo and Juliet’s connection, “Wisley and slow; they stumble that run fast.” (Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet 33).
