The two ads that will be compared today are the Mount Franklin ad and the SOLO ad. These two brands are trying to do the same kind of thing even though there ads are completely different. They are both trying to sell their products by persuading the viewer that their product is really good. They do this by using persuasive techniques, which could be: sex appeal, logos and slogans, music or over exaggeration. Both of the two ads use very similar if not the same persuasive techniques throughout their ad. However the ads target different types of audiences. For example SOLO targets mainly men because they have a big muscular man drinking SOLO. This is to say if you drink SOLO you will become strong and very muscular. A similarity that SOLO and Mount Franklin have are persuasive techniques, for example in the SOLO ad they use over exaggeration to emphasise on how good their drink is. Mount Franklin exaggerates to reinforce that Mount Franklin is a healthy and very good drink. By using sex appeal, SOLO attempts to appeal to the audience’s by saying that if you drink SOLO you will become strong and muscly. Mount Franklin uses sex appeal in pretty much the same way except they use a supermodel. They are also trying to support that if a supermodel drinks Mount Franklin then surely it’s really healthy and delicious enough for you to drink it. These ads are very similar in a lot of ways however also some differences have. SOLO attempts to target an audience of mainly men through the use of music and escapism; whereas Mount Franklin aims to influence Mainly women by using sex appeal and connotations. SOLO and Mount Franklin’s contention are also slightly different. Mount Franklin’s message is to say that attractive supermodels drink Mount Franklin so if you drink Mount Franklin you will become an attractive supermodel. In addition to that it’s healthy, magical and makes an ordinary day so much better. While SOLO’s message praises that SOLO is worth running miles and miles for because it’s so good and delicious.
