William Shakespeare’s, Romeo and Juliet is a beautiful love story that unfortunately ends very tragically. Juliet has two young men in love with her. One is Paris a rich Count, the other a young naïve quick reacting Montague named Romeo. Romeo’s family is constantly feuding with the Capulets even though Romeo has interest in the fighting. Count Paris relies on his clout to win Juliet’s hand while Romeo romances her. Paris believes that he has Juliet simply because his father and granted permission. On the other hand, Romeo relies on his good looks and cleverness to woo Juliet, after all he is Romeo! Showing his immaturity and inability to know what real love is. He has no regrets and throws himself full force into winning Juliet’s love. Whereas, Paris doesn’t have to win over Juliet Romeo believes he does. During his first visit with Juliet he uses his cleverness to compare his lips to pilgrims (palmers) hands. He says as hands join in prayer why can’t their lips do the same. He kisses Juliet for the first time to remove his sins then kisses her again so he receives his sins back. Whereas, Paris goes by the book and asks Juliet’s father for her hand is marriage, Romeo is brave and has no fear of danger. He impulsively climbs the walls in order to get to Juliet, he quickly marries Juliet just hours after meeting her with Juliet’s complete desire to do so. Unlike Paris he cares about what Juliet thinks and wants their marriage to be based on her desires as well as his. Unlike Paris who does everything in the upstanding royal way, Romeo is quick tempered and violent to a fault. He kills Tybalt after Mercutio is killed. He attempts to kill himself after killing Tybalt and he is even more so compulsive in killing Paris before killing himself simply because he believed Juliet was already
