In the poem Birthday, M.T Buckley says” 82nd Newborn, ha ha”. Buckley is using diction and also double entrede so each reader can have their interpretation of the poem. The double entrede is an example of M.T Buckley using diction because he is writing in his own type of way. His is trying to share his idea and he writing the poem in a specific type of way so the poem could be interpreted in multiple ways. In the poem The Secret book of life Stephen Edgar says” To stillness, they do their work through others”. The poet could have said this line in many other clear ways but it was his specific word choices that made this poem and the poem’s structure unique. As a result of his certain word choices and stanza structure, the poem looked like a book sideways; as a result of the poet’s diction, he was able to create a poem that had a unique poem structure. Diction could have many great impacts on the reader, for example diction can create a unique and playful shape for the poem and it could also create a double entrede.
