In “The Selling of a Serial Killer” and “The Death and Life of a Serial Killer” we see multiple different theories that have been used to try and explain Aileen Wuornos, and some of them do make sense, while others feel as if they were made just because of someone wanting a story. Two of these theories that start to collide with one another, are Rusche and Kirchehimer’s Radical theory and Labeling Theory, both of these theories make sense for what they are but contradict with how things happen. Both are very interesting to look at in very different ways, and with how society runs sometimes it is best to look at more than just one angle, and if your lucky maybe you will get ten angles.

You can see it in the mannerisms that she had in the movie around the seventeen minute mark of “Life and Death of a Serial Killer” but also around the hour mark of the movie during which she states “My concern is that law enforcement is letting people die, the 50 women in Canada that died, I am sure the cops knew how the guy was, they are letting them kill, they want to turn them into high profile cases for books and movies”(Boomfield) We start to see her mental degradation in this scene and the seconds and minutes after that statement of what she says, including that the government is putting specialized equipment in her cell, and also beaming it from outside to make her go …show more content…

Movie deals, book contracts, made-for-television specials were all in the works within days of her arrest.” (Hart) Now some will say that this is a self-fullfilling prophecy by Aileen Wuornos and a person would have to agree with them, she acted in just the way that people would be shocked and goaded into believing almost whatever a person would say about Aileen, and that is what she become, in an article by Thomas Doherty he starts off with “Outlaws we love, gangsters we admire, mobsters we respect, but serial killer – well, serial killers creep us out” and many can stay this about Aileen, especially when they mostly see her last
