Conspiracy theories have become a prevalent part of today’s society as the ever-looming belief that the government cannot be trusted further continues to be present thought. A leading conspiracy theory is that the infamous serial killers H.H. Holmes and Jack the Ripper were in fact one in the same. It is believed that H.H. Holmes committed anywhere from 20 to 200 murders during the middle to late 1800’s. He was arrested and tried for the homicides in 1894, but was not convicted until 1895. The next year, in May of 1896 H.H. Holmes was hung for the murder of one of his victims, Benjamin Pitezel, later being laid to rest in a cemetery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
When reading a story and comparing it to the movie version, you will find that there can be similarities and differences. The authors Nathaniel Hawthorne, Katherine Anne Porter,Washington Ivring, wrote short stories that show examples of similarities and differences compared to their movie format. This paper compares and contrasts plot, setting, and characters that are determined through analysis of the stories text and the movies selections. In these three short stories there are similarities and differences within the plots that go through the books and movies.

The movie,Freak the Mighty, is an adventurous, exciting, funny, and emotional movie. The movie is better than the book,Freak the Mighty. The movie and book are very similar;however, the movie is exceptional. There are some reasons why the movie is better than the book. Those reasons are: the book is more funny, emotional, over all more fun to watch and enjoy.
The Maze Runner Could you imagine being in the glade not knowing your age, parents, or why you were there? James Dashner puts together a very suspenseful book. Thomas is the main character in the book The Maze Runner, he is a big leader and is trying to get his friends and him out along with all of the dangers in the maze. The Maze Runner the movie and The Maze Runner the book I would say are pretty different and share some things in common. Everyone who has been chosen to come up to the glade has came come up in a box.
The film The Maze Runner shows strong character contrast through the main protagonist, Thomas, and the villain, Gally. Thomas views the world with strong curiosity where Gally doesn’t like to ask questions and dislikes change. The two can be most obviously compared by looking at their personalities and the similarities and differences between them. Another way of comparison for the two is by seeing what their physical conflicts involve and how they attempt to resolve them. Both Gally and Thomas want to achieve the same major goal of survival, but through their personalities and instincts the way they try to achieve this is very different.
Could you imagine being chased by a headless man riding on a horse? “Sleepy Hollow” is about Ichabod Crane, a schoolmaster in the small town of Sleepy Hollow. Ichabod likes a girl named Katrina Van Tassel, but the only thing in his way is Brom Bones. The two versions of “Sleepy Hollow” incorporate many similarities and differences.
Have you ever analyzed literature? Contemporary and modern pieces of literature from authors such as WI, Nathaniel Hawthorne, KAP often have much to look at. When an analysis is done of the elements of the short stories, a comparison and contrast of these elements becomes element. After reading the stories and watching the movies of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Rappaccini's Daughter, and The Jilting of Granny Weatherall, I can infer comparisons and contrasts of the setting between the different versions. The settings in the book version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the movie version are similar.
King Arthur is one of the best kings that has ruled over Britain, throughout all of history. Arthur ruled with honor, loyalty, and chivalry, which made him a great king. Many lessons that he learned on his journeys helped him to become the person that he is. Arthur’s journey becoming king can be seen in the novel The Sword in the Stone by T.H. White, and is very similar to Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey.
A slasher film is a term used to describe a set of horror films. The usual characteristics of a slasher film involve a stalker that hides in the shadows, young adult victims, and of course, a load of gory murder. Both A Nightmare On Elm Street and Saw have the classic elements of a slasher film but differ significantly. The Saw movie franchise brings a new age curve to the horror movie genre with morals and lessons taught by each intricate trap made by the infamous Jigsaw. On the other hand, A Nightmare on Elm Street movie franchise, although considered a classic horror film, focuses on the supernatural aspects of the plot with added humor.

“The Shining” is a novel written by Stephen King in 1977 and a horror movie directed by Stanley Kubrick in 1980. The novel and movie tells a story about Jack Torrance, who becomes the off-season winter caretaker of the Overlook Hotel. Although the movie and the book have some similarities; there are many differences from the adaptation of the novel. In the book, the main characters are Jack Torrance, Wendy Torrance, and their son Danny Torrance.
Although many movies are based on a book, directors have their own point of views and visions of how the film should be created. Majority of the time, the ending of the film is altered to fit the change in the movie. In A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness and the film A Monster Calls directed by J.A Bayona, the author and director of the novel and movie show two different endings to one story. In the novel, the reader is left with a cliffhanger while in the movie, the director creates an epilogue and giving the viewer closure. The novel compared to the movie shows a difference in character and plot making them different.
The setting of the book, “The Dead and The Gone” is unpleasant because it is disastrous and I would have not liked to live in this setting. Necessities in life are not easily accessible, nor are the weather conditions favorable. I would like to know if my family was alive but couldn’t because there is no cellular service. There is no ability to grow crops because of the weather conditions. There is no electricity or gas.
The Buried Giant Essay THE BURIED GIANT: WISTAN Abhijit Naskar, a world known neuroscientist once said, “Progress of the human society is predicated upon the proper functioning of a key element of the human mind, that is reasoning.” The novel, The Buried Giant written by Kazuo Ishiguro, is set in the 5th century, where two neighboring villages, the Britons and the Saxons peacefully coincide. Axl and Beatrice, a couple of Briton heritage, leave town to go on a journey to find their son, whom they have little to no memory of. Along the way, they meet a Saxon warrior, Wistan, a boy who wants to become a warrior, Edwin, and the nephew of King Arthur, Sir Gawain.
