The Ghost of the Lagoon by Armstrong Sperry and Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll are two writings about a young man who goes out and defeats a local monster. The Ghost of the Lagoon, a boy who goes out to get bananas and Oranges. He runs into a giant shark, ends up killing it, and gets a reward in the end. Jabberwocky, a young man went into the forest and kills the ferocious monster. He ends up getting a prize too. Although the two writings have a similar theme and plot, they are very different. The Ghost of the Lagoon and Jabberwocky have a similar theme of if you face your fears, you will get great reward in the end. In The Ghost in the Lagoon, the text says, “Thirty acres of land and a sailing canoe… “ Similarly, in Jabberwocky, the text says, “He left dead and with it’s head he went galumphing.” In both cases the protagonists had gotten a reward.
