In 'Sunset Water' the experience of water dividing is primal. My father is awkwardly here, then gone. Separation in the poem is palpable; the sentences are cut in half by rippling water. In 'As By Water', water also divides, but it concerns love of a partner, perhaps a less personal, more universal experience.
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and the two poems by Claude McKay, "The Harlem Dancer" and "Outcast," explore the themes of isolation and loneliness. The three works reveal the devastating consequences of being disconnected from society and the desperate need for acceptance and companionship. This essay will examine the similarities in the portrayal of isolation and loneliness in Frankenstein and the poems by McKay. In Frankenstein, the creature experiences profound loneliness and isolation, which lead to his resentment and bitterness towards his creator.
Stereotypes will always be used against minority groups, and will continue to be a negative impact on people. Even though most stereotypes are not true. ‘For What It’s Worth’ by Buffalo Springfield has a logical message because it is referring to the Sunset Strip Riots that took place in Hollywood during the 1960’s. People protested when they lost their civil rights due to a curfew law that was put into place. The song says, “Stop, children, what’s that sound. Everybody look- what’s going down?”
Poetry Analysis Once the poem “History Lesson” was written numerous poetry foundations celebrated it for many reasons. “History Lesson” not only makes an impact on literature today it has also impacted people also. This poem inspires people and moves them to the point to where they can find a personal connection to the poem itself and to the writer. The two poems describing Helen of Troy are very contradicting. The first poem, written by Edgar Allen Poe, describes her to be a beauty. The second poem, written by Hilda Doolittle, describes her to be a menace. These two opinions are very different from each other in many different ways.
Wanna be Yours Poem and Song A lot of times a big hit song usually starts off as a poem and vice versa. When we think of poetry, we think of verses and stanzas. These texts can either be separated or together to form a poem. The same goes for music as well, many songs have separate segments known as the verses and the chorus, and other songs combine those into one section.
When you are being told what to do all the time, does it make you want to go off on your own way? Many people have different ways of becoming rebellion and different reasons of why they want to change. In both the song and poem, the authors are focusing on the fact that people should not be scared to do whatever they want and they should take a chance and become rebellion. However, they have differences on how the point is being made. In the poem, a person is telling the girl on how she should become rebellion, where as in the song, they are saying how they are going to become rebellion and take it anymore from anyone.
reams and Dream Deferred poems are both similar and different at the same time. Some of the similarities are that both the poems have the same topic of what is going to happen if dreams are lost or not taken in action. Another similarity is that it is direct to the audience and tells us how valuable dreams are to us. Also, the poems tell us what happens/describing the loss of dreams, for example, is dreams “Life is a broken-winged bird” and in Dreams Deferred “ or fester like a sore.” Finally, both use alliteration, Dreams “dreams die” and for Dreams Deferred “ syrupy sweet.”
A common theme among most poems that authors encourage the readers to do is to be able to express themselves in a way that they don’t care about others opinion. I know this because poetry is to express what the authors are thinking or their thoughts about certain topics. The poem’s overall setting is from Antarctica. Yes, in one of the poems it’s from the perspective of a newborn penguin having trouble staying on it’s father’s feet. Another conflict is when the newborn penguins have trouble getting off a steep glacier in order to return back to their parents.
All people have their good days and bad days. In the poems “Piano” by D.H. Lawrence and “Those Winter Sundays” by Robert Hayden, the speaker's experience both good memories and bad. Both speakers lived a simple life but what they as a individual were going through was not so simple. The poems each show love even if it's hard to tell. In the two poems “Piano” and “Those Winter Sundays” it shows that the conflict, setting and speaker reveal their own hardships and blessings.
