English comparison essay Dylan Parker The two books I have chosen to compare are: The Maze Runner writen by James Dashner and Paper Towns written by john Green. Though these books aren't written by the same author they both fall into the genre of a romantic adventure and both books explore the divide between the power a situation has over the love for someone James Dashners early life is reflected in his writing and says that "everything I come across in life" inspired him to write this book. Dashner was born into a family of six and now has a family of his own of 4 children. Dashner having always been surrounded by so many people can be an inspiration for the maze runner and how a new person is introduced into life every month and how people have to deal with this. The book follows a boy by the name of Thomas; Thomas life is an adventure learning new skills and goes through challenges but one day meets a girl and his whole world changes. This could show how Dashner had gone through life by learning new things growing up, but finally settling down when meeting his wife. Dashner says in an interview with "seventeen" that he relates best with Thomas as "he also does things, brave things, that I can only hope I would do". The inspiration for this book came to Green when he was driving through South Dakota with his girlfriend at the time and passed a town on the map that consisted of nothing, and on discovery they they asked a woman in the next town why there was no civilization and she "that it wasn't real."
