Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Quarter 3 Timed Write Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a father who saved the world? Imagine having to live up to that reputation, and be named after some of the greatest wizards of all time. Albus Potter has always grown up hearing of the battles and triumphs of his father's teenage years. Now that Albus has reached the age where he is able to attend Hogwarts, the school where it all began for his father, the expectations of himself and that others have for him are even higher. Hogwarts is a place where students learn and train to better themselves as wizards. The school also comes with all the reputations of a person’s past and family. A wizard can have completely different interests, friend groups, and talents, but how everyone else sees that person can have nothing to do with any of those. The second Albus walks into a room the crowd makes comparisons between he and his father, “ POLLY CHAPMAN: Albus Potter. KARL JENKINS: A Potter. In our year. YANN FREDERICKS: He’s got his hair. He’s got hair just like him” (Thorne 19). No matter what Albus does, people will continue to only see him as Harry Potter’s son. …show more content…

His attitude has always been a self-doubtful mindset that he has to live up to his father, but he also knows he won’t achieve this goal. Albus believes his father has put pressure on him to achieve this massive fame as well, “So what would you like me to do? Magic myself popular? Conjure myself into a new house? Transfigure myself into a better student? Just cast a spell, Dad, and change me into what you want me to be, okay? It’ll work better for both of us” (Thorne 27). Harry can’t reach out to Albus without a passive aggressive return attack. Albus has such a set frame of mind that it makes him near impossible to reach out
