Three professional photographers who successfully depict their ideas and subjects with enthusiasm are; George Steinmetz, Clark Little, and Gary Winogrand. All three artists have very different topics but each one has mastered his own style.

He learned how to surf at a young age when his family moved from his birthplace in California to Hawaii. In an interview, Clark admitted that it was his fear of surfing the big waves that landed him in the not so scary shore break waves. However, Clark wasn’t always a photographer, his career of shooting shore break waves began as he was approaching 40 years old. An art print of a wave purchased by his wife inspired the surfer to shoot a shore break wave. Clark Little’s photography inspires me to think outside the box when it comes to photography. He is another artist that doesn’t allow complications to get in his way. Diving into these waves to capture amazing images is very unsafe, to say the least. However, that hasn’t stopped this artist to excel in his photography. His work has been featured in both museums and National Geographic magazine. Clark Little has also received the 2009 people’s choice award for photographer of the year. One very big difference is Winogrand shoots with a small format 35mm Leica camera. Winogrand is well known for his fast capture technique in which he would take many pictures in a short period of time. He grew up in New York City and from an early age, he pursued a career in photography. At age 20 he attended City College of New York, where he studied realistic portraiture. Later in his life, he went on to Columbia University to study photojournalism. Garry Winogrand, a street photographer, earned several awards including, three Guggenheim fellowship awards in 1964,1969 and 1979, in addition, he received the National Endowment of the Arts Award also in 1979.Throughout his life, his captures showcased the down-to-earth life of his subjects in their genuine environment. In viewing his vast collection of black and white images, no person was omitted from his viewfinder. This artist captured history with subjects from all walks of life, from executives to beggars. His impact on the world didn’t end with film, Winogrand went on to teach at the University of Texas and the Art Institute of Chicago. In his life span, he also published four books of photography. Winogrand passed away as the result of gallbladder cancer in 1984. I admire this photographer for his creative depiction of the individuals, traditions, personalities, and character of a time past.
