Sola Fides, “faith alone” separated biblical Christians from other categories of Christianity. Protestantism was believing that through God's accomplishments and Christ's finished work, you will be saved. They needed to devote themselves to God and put full trust and belief into him. Furthermore, to Protestants, God himself was the only savior: this ideology was based on Sola Scriptura. Sola Scriptura, more commonly known as “base writings,” was the emphasis of the Bible to Protestants.
Along with Orthodox Christians, Jehovah’s Witnesses that the bible is fully inspired by God and that the bible should be preserved. To the Jehovah’s Witnesses the bible is a gift sent from God that tells humans about what God is like, how to cope with problems, and how to please God. Even though Jehovah’s Witnesses believe in the bible same as Orthodox Christians, Witnesses have a different form of the bible “The New World Translation.” This form of the bible translates important passages, for example what Jesus Christ was like.

How is Christianity different from Jewish understanding? Christianity Is based into Jesus the Son of God who came on earth to change the world this is why Paul called Jesus the second Adam because he is only one after Adam who was born without sin. Jesus has changed the Old Testament way in living; he died on the cross and covered our sins with his blood for every single human being, which is great for the people who were born after the New Testament. The bible says that all sins are forgivable but the only sin that is different from any kind of sin is not accepting Jesus Christ as your savior, in other words not believing in Jesus.
During the Protestant Reformation, many different branches of Protestantism were established, most of them adapting Luther’s original teachings or interpreting Luther’s ideas for themselves. Luther’s teachings were based on the idea that salvation was achievable through faith alone, and that ‘higher’ religious powers, such as the Pope, were unnecessary. Lutheranism is often considered the ‘original’ branch of Protestantism, as it is entirely based upon the writings of Martin Luther, hence the name. Anabaptism is reputed to be the most radical branch of Protestantism. Anabaptists were the most persecuted Protestant group, as they were maltreated by the Catholic Church and other Protestant groups alike.
On September 21, 1823, Joseph Smith had a vision. A prophet by the name Moroni came to him and told him that there was a book written on golden plates which contained the history of the first inhabitants of North America, as well as the “fullness of the everlasting Gospel” (LDS, 2012). Moroni also revealed that the book was personally “delivered by Jesus to the ancient inhabitants” (LDS, 2012). Moroni wrote in the sacred book one last time before burying it in the Hill Cumorah, where Joseph Smith eventually found it. Upon discovering the book of golden plates, Joseph Smith was also given a magical breastplate that could translate documents.
I have had various religious experiences in my life. I was christened at age 10 as a Lutheran. I investigated the Mormon religion while I was in high school (dating a Mormon girl). I was Saved by the Lord in a church in Dallas, Texas, and was subsequently baptized in the Baptist church, in my twenties. I now attend the United Methodist church, near my home in San Antonio.
The Protestant Reformation was the most important reformation to ever occur in religious history. It changed the way the world at Catholicism forever. It also gave birth to the many variations of the religion of Protestantism. Some of which being, Baptist, non-denominational, Lutheranism, and many more like it; these being the most popular. The Protestant Reformation aimed to reform the beliefs and practices of the Roman catholic church.
Araix Romero Mr. McGowan REL 2300 5/15/23 Hinduism and Christianity: A Comparative Analysis Ever since the beginning of the world, ancient civilizations have sought greater meaning--leading to the creation of religions. Religions have since shaped civilizations throughout history, deeply influencing societal norms, ethical values, and cultural practices. Among some of the many religious traditions, Hinduism and Christianity have been some of the most influential and practiced belief systems.
“Protestants do not believe in a hierarchical structure,” while Catholics believe that the Pope is the head of their Church (Herbst: The Difference between Protestantism and Catholicism). Catholics also have devotion for Mary, so they pray to her; while Protestants do not pray to her. For Catholics, the most important part of Mass is the Eucharist or Holy Communion, while Protestants believe that the most significant part comes with the sermon. Catholics also believe in practices that are not explicitly stated in the Scriptures. In contrast, Protestants believe only in what is stated in the Scriptures.
I grew up around Catholicism and Eastern orthodox religion. I learned about Protestants in school and didn’t know anyone who belong to that religion. Later on when I started traveling more I realized that majority of Germany was actually Protestant and not Catholic. I guess I was blinded by political power and glamour of Vatican.
I was raised as a Christian and embraced the faith for many years. During this time, I read the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, rejecting all other religions as bogus, believing that Christianity was the only true pathway to God and salvation. It was while studying at the University of the West Indies that I began to question the rationality of my beliefs. The churches that I had attended were Anglican and Missionary, and the doctrines of many other denominations were alien to me. So I invited Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons into my home and engaged them in conversations regarding their beliefs, as well as entertaining dialogue with Roman Catholics, Seventh-day Adventists, Pentecostals and others.
Judaism and Hinduism have many things in common. Both ancient religions believe in a higher power and both began as being specific to a certain region before later expanding in the late 19th century, with Judaism originating in Egypt and Hinduism taking its roots in India. With that being said, there are also several differences between the two religions. Hindus believe that we are reborn from a previous life until we achieve “oneness”, which is the unity of all beings with the Divine. Jews, on the other hand, believe that we are created in God’s image with the capacity to either be good or evil.
