The way a play is composed depends widely on the intended audience and setting in which the author is surrounded by and wishes to portray throughout their text. This is evident in the way the same overall story of Shakespeare's Macbeth gained cultural variation when it was produced into the film, The Throne of Blood, by Akira Kurosawa. The same themes and story line are evident with relatable characters to each of the different texts. This creates a shared meaning from an older work for a different audience that is found through the themes that are expressed through character alterations, the imagery of the play. The background of these texts begin in two significantly different places and cultures. Shakespeare’s Macbeth takes place along the lines of the actual occurrences of the Scotland in 1034 when King Malcolm II died. Under his last command, succession of the throne was granted to Duncan. This was against the succession rules of the time, as the real Macbeth was the one whom the throne rightfully belonged to. However, Macbeth lost to the favor of Duncan, who then became the King. Macbeth didn't immediately try to take the throne from Duncan, but overtime he openly raised an army against his rule. Duncan lost the battle to Macbeth, and due to his two sons being out of the country, Macbeth gained the power of rule, but was later overthrown by Malcolm III, Duncan's eldest son. …show more content…
