The book I chose was The Education of a Coach, which is a biography of Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and was written by David Halberstam. The book was very interesting to me because I am a football fan and Patriots fan. There were some good take-aways from the book from when Bill was successful and from when he wasn’t. One thing I wish the book could have talked about was problems that Belichick and the Patriots were called out after about Spygate. I would like to see a second book about how he took his team through controversy’s and two Super Bowl Losses to the Giants to redeeming them selves to win a franchise fourth

When Coach Brooks makes the statement “All Star teams fail due to talented individuals playing as individuals”, he suggests the team harness individual talent in a systematic approach so they can grow as a team, instead of individually. In making this statement Coach Brooks recognizes the talent of the team, however hocky is not an individual sport and to win and be successful everyone must work together. As an Athletic Training undergraduate at Winthrop University, I am required to have at least 60 hours total from two Clinical sites. The two sites I was given at the beginning of the semester were Women’s Basketball and Fort Mill High School. While at my High School site for the first half of the semester I learned an astonishing amount of new things. Besides meeting new people and making relationships with new people in my major, I also learned firsthand what it could possibly be like to be an Athletic trainer. Although I played both basketball and football in high school I never really realize the importance of having an athletic trainer.

The first unique quality that I can bring to this program is dependability. One thing that I am very proud of is that I have never missed or skipped a class in college. I take my classes very seriously and will do the same for the classes and observation hours in the program. This Athletic Training Program requires early hour observations and I think my dependable character can be trusted by the staff that I will always show up, which is sometimes the most important thing.
