The open and concealed carry laws are really strong topics in the united states right now. Texas just gave their conceal carry carriers the right to open carry their weapon on their hip or in a shoulder holster. With that being said, all of the gun activist in Texas are rallying the open carry, not only are they setting the rallies but pro gun activist are rallying against them. The National Rifle acc. (NRA) have set out to rally for the open carry law, but they also know why people would be scared about the open carry.
First, the report states that “states have granted concealed carry permits to domestic abusers, criminals, the mentally ill, and suicidal individuals, among others.” This can be proven false right away, since to own a concealed carry permit, let alone most kinds of firearms in general. An applicant has to pass a background check. So anyone with a criminal record or who is mentally unstable won’t be able to receive a concealed carry permit. Later on, the report claims that in 29 instances, people used their concealed carry permits to carry out mass killings.

Concealed Carry: Should The Age Be 18 or 20 Years of Age? Guns, they’re already a touchy subject in the world today especially with mass shootings and terrorist attacks on the United States that could happen at any moment and when the new bill proposed to lower the concealed carry permit age to 18 to 20-year-old people, a good number of claims were brought up to go against the bill. With the majority of the people who this bill would affect, most of them are in college at these ages and with most campuses having a strict no gun policy this bill would not really be useful to people on campus like some of the arguments that are for the bill claim that the bill would come in handy. so people can feel more protected. As Well as giving people the protection that need if other resources are not available to them at that time that they need it. Next, concealed weapons give people a sense of awareness after taking a class on how to use their weapon. Finally, carrying a concealed weapon can decrease many risks that we have in day to day life. The “concealed carry lifestyle” should not be just pushed by gun manufacturers, but instead should be pushed by some organizations that support it.

The issue of gun control is relevant in the US today, with mass shootings covering the media almost every month. Therefore, the debate on whether or not gun laws should be stricter or more relaxed is currently happening, and lobbyist and interest groups have a lot of influence on this debate. The question is then: How much influence do these interest groups and lobbyists have on gun control in the US?
A few years ago, a student named Amanda Carpenter attended the University of Nevada at Reno. She was walking to her car from class when she was attacked and raped. This student felt as if she had been allowed to carry a concealed gun, she probably would not have gotten raped that night (Wiseman, 2012). There are many misconceptions about carrying a concealed gun, everyone is not criminals, and everyone will not commit a crime. A thorough background check, training, and the passing of a test should qualify people the right to carry a concealed gun everywhere.
The concealed weapons law stops crime quite significantly. The law has reduced murders, rapes, aggravated assaults, and robberies. Murders by 8.5%, rapes by 5%, aggravated assaults by 7%, and robbery by 3%. More research was conducted on why this law helps deter crime and between 1980 and 2009, states with more restrictive laws for concealed weapons had gun-related murder rates that were 10%. Also, before Florida passed the concealed weapons law, they had 36% higher crime rate than the nation average.
