This chapter is divided into three aspects or framework they are; the conceptual framework, the theoretical framework and the empirical framework. The conceptual framework contains a detailed description of substance use/abuse, coping ability and religiosity. The theoretical framework on the other hand includes theories relating to the study i.e. theories relating to the concepts mentioned above (substance use/misuse, coping ability, and religiosity), involves application of relevant theories to the above mentioned concept. Lastly the empirical framework examines previous works, studies, articles and researches carried out by various scholars on substance use/misuse, coping ability, and religiosity. Cannabis products are usually smoked. Their effect are felt within minutes, reach their peak in 10 to 30minutes. The effects experiences often depend upon the experience and expectations of the individual users, as well as the activities of the drugs itself. Low doses tend to induce a sense of wellbeing and a dreamy state of relaxation, which may be accompanied by more vivid sense of sight, smell, taste, and hearing, as well as subtle alterations in thought formation and expression. Stronger doses intensify reaction the individual may experience shifting sensory imagery, rapidly fluctuating emotions, fragmentary thoughts with disturbing association, an altered sense of self identity, image distortion, fantasies and hallucinations. Any substance that is introduced into the body must be transported from the site of entry to the point of action. There are three major routes of administration; topical route of administration, enteral route of administration, and parental route of administration (manlenka, nestler, Hyman, Robert, 2009). Topical route of administration: Here the skin is the point of action so it involves the direct application/use of the substance to the skin. Methods of topical administration include; • Epicutaneous: directly on the skin • Eye drops • Ear drops • Intranasal route: through the nose Enteral route of administration: the route has a systemic effect; it involves the gastrointestinal system (i.e. oesophagus, stomach, and small and large intestines) Method of administration include • Oral: by mouth • Rectally: through the rectum • By gastric feeding tube • Enema: through liquid forms Parenteral route of administration: simply put parenteral route administration means any non oral means of substance administration but can be interpreted as relating to injecting the substance directly into the body, by passing the skin and mucous
