The psychological effect marijuana, has on a person is; hallucination, depression, and the since of happiness. It can also cause a clouded view of time and place; strong sensitivity to sound, tastes, smells, and colors. Marijuana can even make it difficult for someone to focus and remember things. It’s especially harmful, when a woman pregnant uses the drug, causing the child to be born with a low birth weight and many other birth defects.
Some of its side effects include- short-term memory, red eyes, dry mouth, damaged perception, anxiety, social withdrawal, and coughing. Serious side effects include: panic, paranoia, or psychosis. Degree of these effects varies based on the person and the amount consumed. Marijuana intoxication produces effects including:
It was later used to treat opioids withdrawals in individuals. The THC in the marijuana gives individuals a high, it has evolved from simply herbal medicine but to one of the most abused drugs. Making marijuana is most likely one of the reasons it has become such a popular and abused drug. Cannabis is simply grown making it simple
Marijuana taken during pregnancy can raise the risk of health problems in the babies. Some other long term side effects include a decline in IQ, poor school performance and higher chance of dropping out, impaired thinking and ability to learn and perform complex tasks, lower life satisfaction, addiction (about 9% of adults and 17% of people who started smoking as teens), potential development of opiate abuse, relationship problems, intimate partner violence, antisocial behavior including stealing money or lying, financial difficulties, increased welfare dependence, greater chances of being unemployed or not getting good jobs (Brain). There are some types of drugs that have marijuana in them. The two drugs that have ingredients from marijuana are Dronabinol and Nabilone. Dronabinol has synthetic THC used to treat nausea from chemotherapy, and extreme weight loss in AID patients.
Furthermore, marijuana is unhealthy substance. "The active ingredient in marijuana has been linked to memory problems, impaired thinking, and weakened immune systems, not to mention, it acts like a gateway to more dangerous drugs"(Marijuana: Should the United States legalize marijuana?). From using marijuana, you can get both long term and short term mental effects. When you get short term mental effects, they are temporary.
Recreational Marijuana I am writing this research paper to show how marijuana isn’t as bad as everyone says it is and to show who wants it legalized and how it could help our economy in a very good way, and where the money could go in helping the states that legalize it. I believe that legalizing marijuana federally and taxing it, as exemplified by Colorado and California, as well as many other states, the government would do very well and would alleviate some current national debts. A majority of people in the United States agree. A 2017 Gallup poll found a record-high 64% support for legalizing marijuana, up from 12% in 1969 (ProCon). This research also found that 72% of Democrats and 67% of Independents are more likely to back legalization
Below are some things that happens when you inhale huge amounts of Marijuana: In larger doses, marijuana produces: You start to imagine things that aren't there. Your memory get even worse than normal.
Marijuana is a harmless drug. People use it just to help them have more fun in their lives. Other people use it for medical reasons, so there is no real problem with it. There are people that use marijuana almost daily and they still have the same actions as they were before they started using the drug. Yes, it slows down your concentration but, it does not effect every user the same way.
It is known to give users a “high” or euphoric feeling when ingested, and is illegal in most parts of the world. Some places are very strict with marijuana laws and some are more lenient. In today’s age more and more people are deciding to side with pro marijuana legalization for the United States. There are many reasons why people are choosing to side with pro legalization of marijuana and one of them is because of its benefits as a medicinal drug. Some states have already taken the step to legalize marijuana for medicinal use however many have not.
If legalized, marijuana could cause societal problems in many areas. First of all, the easy access to legal marijuana would mean that more of it would get into the hands of kids and teens. Police officers worry that we will see increased crime on the streets as marijuana lowers inhibitions and users will do whatever is necessary to feed their addiction. There are also problems with people who use marijuana and drive.
People believe that if marijuana is legalized users will get addicted. Marijuana use disorder become what is known as addiction when “the person cannot stop using the drug even though it interferes with many aspects of his or her life” (“Is Marijuana Addictive”). Although addiction is a problem, out of all the people who use marijuana, only 9% become dependent on it (“Is Marijuana Addictive”). Also, opioids and painkillers are very addictive as well, and they can lead to an overdose resulting in death. The second concern is abuse.
Ksir, 2004 mentions that there are over 400 chemicals in marijuana. The main active part of cannabis is DELTA-9 TETRAHYDRO-CANNABINOL, commonly known as THC. It is THC that causes the feeling of intoxication and relaxation, otherwise known as “high”. Ksir, 2004 also mentions that THC is the element that causes marijuana to be classified as a drug. Consuming of cannabis in various forms such as a blunt (cigarette), hash, etc. gives a sense of euphoria and causes difference in how a person perceives what is going on around him/her.
Marijuana, also known as Cannabis, is derived from the Cannabis plant and is used commonly for either recreational or medical purposes. Marijuana is composed of chemicals such as tetrahydrocannabinol (HTC, and over eighty cannabinoids. Marijuana is acknowledged for providing smokers with a “high” feeling. Since the twentieth century, this illicit drug has been banned across the world. However, over the past few years studies have been conducted on marijuana and the results show that it can actually be helpful in many different areas of society.
Please outline at least 3 policies at either the federal, NYS law, or local level. Also keep in mind courts may have ruled on this issue as well you may include that in your response (Anything on a government published website is considered “policy”). The New York State Assembly easily approved a law legalizing medical marijuana last Tuesday, and there appear to be enough votes to pass similar legislation in the State. This false perception of a lazy and unmotivated America is the result of over seventy years of propaganda and misinformation. In my opinion for many reasons, the Federal Government should legalize marijuana in all 50 states. First of all marijuana has proven to be very useful in the medical field. Many evidence based studies have shown that medical marijuana can help patients who suffer from illnesses such as AIDS, cancer, glaucoma, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, and many other serious terminal illnesses. The effects of marijuana have been known to greatly relieve pain that is caused by these diseases.
