Drugs are a big topic all around the world, drug use impacts many things. Cannabis more commonly known as marijuana is a drug that days as far back as 2727 B.C. but quickly spread all around the world. In the United States it dates back as far as colonization. It has become one of the most abused drugs. It started simply as a plant used as an herbal medicine, it was used in the United States to make fabric and rope. It was later used to treat opioids withdrawals in individuals. The THC in the marijuana gives individuals a high, it has evolved from simply herbal medicine but to one of the most abused drugs. Many individuals say it is safer and beneficial to have it legalized while many others are against the idea of say yes to one of the most abused drugs in the United States. The parent’s movement of 1976 was to prevent the use of cannabis in children and teens. This act was led the First Lady, Nancy Reagan. In 1982 the First Lady Nancy Reagan started a campaign against marijuana and the legalization of this drug. The “just say no” campaign, this played a crucial role in the parent’s movement of 1976 as the First Lady was the head spokesperson. In 2014 marijuana became legal in Colorado, since then many states have followed. There are currently nine states that have legalized the recreational use of marijuana. In Colorado is there are now more dispensary for recreational marijuana than Starbucks coffee shops. Medical marijuana is quickly growing with twenty-nine state who have legalized the use of medical marijuana. Marijuana is not only being used for human use. Marijuana is being used for pets such as cats and dogs for medical purposes. The effects only last a few hours but in large quantities marijuana could be deadly to a cat or dog. Marijuana is just like any other plant; it can cause an allergic reaction in individuals. Marijuana and Viagra do not mix; the Viagra won’t break down as fast in the blood of someone who has been smoking Viagra. Marijuana just like any other drug can cause a bad trip.
