Why Marijuana Should Not Be Legalized

Marijuana is a drug that many people would like to have legalized. Twenty-four states currently have it as a legal option for medicinal uses. However, only four states and District of Columbia have it as a legal recreational use. Most states do not have it legal for recreational use and still half will not even allow it to be used medicinally. However, there are many people in each state that still have it illegal that would like to reverse that law. Marijuana should not be legalized in the current states that are standing strong and the laws allowing it to be used recreationally in the four states that have them should be abolished.

While some may argue that they are not addicted, the symptoms of addiction until later into the usage of it or when they attempt to stop using it. Common signs of such addiction may be irritation, sleep deprivation, and decreased appetite. Some people may also experience cravings. The people who suffer from these symptoms are suffering from a withdrawal and addiction to marijuana. It is definitely an addicting drug that can lead many people into bad places with money if they must keep buying it to satisfy their addiction. It may mean that the person cannot afford other essentials that he or she needs such as food or shelter. If this person cannot afford a house then that leads them to then have to either bum off somebody else’s living space or become a homeless person. America currently has around 600,000 homeless people living on the streets. If marijuana becomes legal, more people begin smoking marijuana. More people smoking it cause more addictions.
