Marijuana which is also known as Cannabis has been known to had been used since the ancient times. As stated in “History of marijuana & cannabis use and abuse” (narconon) “the first recorded time it was used in medical history was 2727 B.C. and it was used in chinese pharmacopoeia.” Marijuana is a drug that is greatly known throughout the United States by many people and it is known as a “gateway drug”. Smoking has become more popular and socially accepted by many people, not because it looks cool, but because it has health benefits for many people in need. Users that use this drug for medical purposes it helps them with many things such as helping with nausea, seizures and hunger. It's hard for these patients to get this drug because it is illegal in many states, Louisiana being one of them. Marijuana is able to alleviate pain because it contains CBD and THC oil which are both found in the plant.

First of all it helps cancer patients gain weight because once the week is smoked the oils go to the CB1 receptor which makes you have the “munchies”. The limbic forebrain is a receptor in the brain that makes things taste good, but once you smoke it enhances flavors and scents of foods making them taste even better. The reward centre is what makes you have that good feeling once you have eaten and all of these parts in your brain work in overdrive which causes you to have the munchies. This makes people gain weight so that is why it is good for cancer patients.
